Mission

The Headland Area Chamber of Commerce is organized to promote local businesses, enhance all qualities of life and be a strategic partner for growth in our city and region.

Vision

The Headland Area Chamber of Commerce will be the driving force for community progress, advocating Headland as the premier place to live and work, maintaining a small-town atmosphere with strong family values and a healthy local economy with a viable business in every building.

Advocacy

For over 50 years, our Headland Area Chamber of Commerce has been the leading business advocate within our City of Headland, helping to promote economic growth and prosperity, serving as a vital strategic partner in initiatives that enhance and preserve the quality of life within our community, and providing valued services to our diverse business members.

Member Advocacy

Our Chamber assists businesses in a multitude of ways with the City, including licensing requirements and other start-up issues. Our relationships with City department heads and staff members foster a cooperative spirit enabling us to effectively interface on behalf of our members to get to the right people to obtain correct information.

Because of our positive relationship with City officials, we encourage our members to take advantage of our well-established lines of communication.

Political Advocacy

We are also working with leaders in surrounding communities to establish a regional coalition to make our united voice more significant.

Who We Are!

Headland Chamber of Commerce logoThe Headland Area Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary business community organization. It brings businesses, professionals, and organizations together  creating a centralized group to improve business and build a better community.

The Headland Area Chamber of Commerce members are the organization's backbone and comprise the pool of resources from which ideas, growth, and financial support are drawn. The Chamber organizes and directs its resources to improve its community by fostering the growth of its local businesses. The chamber empowers its members to accomplish collectively what may be difficult individually.

The major responsibility of a Headland Area Chamber of Commerce is to ensure that community businesses prosper. It works to increase wealth and prosperity by facilitating the growth of existing businesses and fostering new ones. The Chamber creates a strong quality of place through community events and marketing campaigns.

The Chamber is NOT a government agency. The organization receives no federal, state, county, or city funding.

Who leads the organization?

The governing body of the Headland Area Chamber is its Board of Directors. From small business owners to local citizens, the 12 member board represents a cross-section of the Chamber's membership. The Board’s function is to determine policy for the organization. The Board is also responsible for the organization’s finances, considers and approves the budget, and determines the appropriate membership investment schedule.

The Chamber also employs an executive director, who manages the organization's day-to-day functions, including planning and hosting special events and promoting the business community and Headland’s assets.

How does the Chamber support the business community?

The Chamber performs many functions to foster the growth of the business community. Entrepreneurs are the foundation of the economy. The Chamber recognizes the role of these individuals' contributions to the local economy and continues to work to be their advocate at all levels of government. We will continue to provide and improve the networking and knowledge-building events and programs that meet their specific and unique needs. It is important to us that our members have the tools necessary to achieve success when doing business in the local community.

How does my company join the Chamber?

HACC Diamond Club

The HACC Diamond Club is made up of chamber members who are interested in future leadership and volunteering. The Diamond Club members meet quarterly, attend ribbon cuttings, Headland After Hours events, and more. The top member from each year is recognized at the Annual Gemmy Awards! Chamber Investment Spotlight

In June 2006, Columbus Tractor and Machinery Co., Deep South Tractor Co., Early Tractor Co., Henry Farm Center, and WENCO Group joined forces forming SunSouth LLC. SunSouth began with eleven stores: Abbeville, Andalusia, Brundidge, Dothan, Montgomery Tractor, Montgomery Lawn and Leisure, Samson, Tuskegee in Alabama, and Blakely, Columbus, and Donalsonville in Georgia.

In 2006, the former LaGrange, Ga. location and our current Clanton, AL location were added. Through an acquisition in January 2008 Demopolis, Greensboro, and Tuscaloosa, AL was added. In August of 2009, the Tuskegee store moved to Auburn, AL, where they proudly serve Lee County and surrounding areas.

Looking to join forces to make a significant impact, in 2010, the two Montgomery stores combined into one store, and Greensboro combined with Demopolis. Georgia was the next focal point with the addition of Carrollton and Barnesville. LaGrange and Columbus were then combed to form one location to better serve Muscogee and surrounding counties.

In 2013, SunSouth saw the most expansion with the addition of 6 locations. Beginning by adding Foley and Mobile to the Alabama locations in June, SunSouth quickly expanded into Mississippi by August, with the addition of Lucedale and Moss Point. Following quickly behind, Carthage and Meridian were added. December. In 2016, the Moss Point location moved to Gulfport, where it is presently serving Harrison and surrounding Counties.

Now with 21 locations in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi, SunSouth aspires to provide customers with access to the right equipment and top-notch service with qualified and certified staff. At SunSouth, we pride ourselves on integrity, quality, commitment, and innovation.
